Polymer Clay BBQ

A cute miniature BBQ scene with wooden picnic table and polymer clay food and grill.
The "first draft" for one of my projects for the summer. Trying to get better at making food, so I decided to pick a bunch of summer-y foods to make for some bbq and picnic scenes. Other than the hamburgers, it was my first time making everything (table and grill included). I'll be making everything again at least once (and some will be tutorials) so hopefully I'll have learned from my mistakes the first time around and have a much better finished project.
But for now here it is...

Miniature DIY Dollhouse Kitchen

I bought this kit off of amazon. (Link here)
It was a lot of fun to put together. I didn't finish all the decorations (basket of tomatoes, roses, the teacups and boxes) as you can see from the pictures, but I'm happy with how it looks and plan to make some of my own decorations with clay and different odds and ends.
The box. Good to keep as a reference when putting everything together, also the pictures on amazon and laminiworld.com helped a lot.
 Paper cutouts and instructions.

 Wood for the main room.
Wood pieces for the furniture and various bits of paper, fabric, felt, wire, cotton stuffing, and beads.
Comes with everything you need to make it like the picture shown on the box.
The only thing not included is glue.

It took about a day and a half to get this far and then it sat there for another week before I got started on the decorations. This was my least favorite part. I felt some things (boxes, containers, cups, basically all the paper cutouts) were just more effort than they were worth. I think I'll have a lot more fun finding and making my own stuff to decorate it with anyway.

And that's what it looks like for now. I had a lot of fun making it and will still play around with it for a while. I plan on doing a bit of a renovation (some new wallpaper or paint and maybe tweak the furniture a bit) but it is cute enough straight out of the box. Now I have to make the difficult decision of which one to get next...

A quick update of some Easter themed pieces I've made.

Blueberry pie, Carrot cake, Bunny cake.

 Peeps
And lastly a couple eggs I decorated this year.
I saw these on pinterest and had to try them out for myself.
Happy Easter!

Polymer Clay Easter Cookies

 Supplies
Polymer Clay, TLS, color pastels, tools for texturing (toothbrush, foil, sandpaper, needle and dotting tools), cookie cutters.
 Let's get started!
Start with a "cookie colored" clay. I used ecru mixed with a tiny bit of beige.
Roll out to desired thickness.
Cut out cookies. If you don't have mini cookie cutters, (and I don't blame you, other than this tutorial I doubt these will get much use) You can sketch out your own shapes with a ball tool and cut out with an exacto knife.

 Add texture to cookies.

The top of the cookie will be covered with icing, so you can skip this part, but it's a good chance to try out different textured tools and compare the different results.

Time to bake.

Add some color pastels to TLS. I added only a small amount to get a more pastel effect.

Decorate and bake once more.
